Where do I begin?
Start your journey today by booking your Nutrition Assessment.
First, your registered dietitian will calculate your individual nutritional requirements. Your medical history, lifestyle, goals, and diet will all be assessed to create your personalized nutrition strategy, with your input. We use motivational interviewing, and a unique understanding of the individual, to elicit the most sustainable behavior change.
Our nutrition assessment is detailed and comprehensive, in order to focus on and combat the underlying or root cause. In comparison to diet fads that come and go, First Thousand Nutrition uses evidence-based principles to see a complete change of lifestyle that enables the client to make healthy choices on their own.

What can I expect in a Nutrition Assessment?
Prior to your appointment, the registered dietitian will calculate your daily nutritional needs. Then, at your one-hour consultation we will assess your medical history, lifestyle, goals and of course, diet. A personalized meal plan may also be set up to help you fast-track your results!
We usually undertake:
Please have near you at your virtual appointment any medications, nutritional supplements, and blood test results. We will send a copy of this report to all of your doctors to make them aware of our treatment plans, so please provide their contact details in your online paperwork. We will send you a one-page welcome letter to make everything as easy as possible leading up to your first appointment, so no worries!

How much does it cost?
We absolutely understand you not wanting to waste time hearing more about our services if your budget is inflexible. Important questions to ask yourself first – “what is it costing me to not see a nutritionist?” (money, as well as time spent confused, debating, planning meals, and researching) and “what will it cost me over the course of my entire lifetime?”
Finally asking yourself, “what would it be worth to me, if I knew seeing Jennifer and completing the First Thousand Nutrition program would produce the results I desire?” See pricing below:
*price per session comparison of follow up/review sessions purchased in bulk as part of the signature program v. sessions purchased individually.
Where are you located?
First Thousand Nutrition is a virtual practice. I see clients using a HIPAA compliant telehealth platform that is integrated with the medical record system you will use to fill out your online paperwork – Kalix. No need to sacrifice half a day each time you need an appointment. Fit the appointment into your lunch break, or from anywhere in the world.
Do you take insurance? What forms of payment do you accept?
We currently do not accept insurance, but we can provide you with a coded invoice you to submit to your insurance for reimbursement, upon request. You will need to check with your insurance company ahead of time to determine what services are covered and how much you will be reimbursed. I accept credit cards, Health Savings Accounts (HSA), and Flexible Spending Accounts (FSA). Payment is due at the time of booking.
What is your cancellation policy?
PLEASE NOTE: If you cancel or reschedule with less than 24 business hours notice, you will be charged your entire consultation fee. We have a 7-day cancellation and rescheduling policy. If you miss your appointment, cancel or change your appointment with less than one week notice, you will be charged a $75 cancellation fee.
This policy is in place out of respect for us as a healthcare practice as well as my clients. Accountability is also important when working to change lifestyle and behavior, and for you to get the most out of your visits. Further, cancellations with less than 24 hours notice are difficult to fill. By giving last-minute notice or no notice at all, you prevent someone else from being able to schedule during that time.
For more information on my policies, please see my terms and conditions page.
I have a simple question about nutrition – can I email you or reach out on social media?
You can find a lot of great (free) information on my Instagram. However, I do not provide any personal advice over email, or without first conducting a nutrition consult. This is to protect YOU. Without knowing your situation and medical history, it is not possible to offer personalized recommendations. If you have any questions about working together, please fill out this form, and we will get back to you ASAP!
I just want a meal plan to follow. Will you do that?
Unfortunately, no, for a couple of reasons. The time it takes to put together a personalized meal plan far exceeds what you’re willing to pay for it (trust me). If you don’t want one that is personally tailored, try Google or ChatGPT for a free meal plan.
Most importantly, my goal is to empower your healthy decision making in any setting, not train you to follow a meal plan.
Nutritionist v. Dietitian – what’s the difference?
The main thing you need to know is that only registered dietitian nutritionists are required to hold a Masters Degree and continue their education for the entirety of their careers. Registered dietitian = Registered dietitian nutritionist = RD = RDN (they are all equal and hold the same meaning). As long as the practitioner is using the credential "RD," "RDN," "registered dietitian", and/or "registered dietitian nutritionist" – they are held to the standards previously mentioned.
First Thousand Nutrition is led by Houston early life dietitian,
Jennifer Davenport, specializing in prenatal nutrition,
postpartum nutrition, food allergy prevention,
infant feeding, and family nutrition.
